In 1966 Hockney taught a summer drawing class at UCLA where he met the student and fledging artist, Peter Schlesinger. Schlesinger became Hockney’s frequent model and romantic partner, moving in with him in Los Angeles and, later, London. Schlesinger appears in some of Hockney’s most famous paintings including Peter Getting Out of Nick's Pool; The Room, Tarzana; Le Parc des Sources, Vichy; and Portrait of an Artist (Pool with Two Figures)The 1974 film, A Bigger Splash, dramatizes the disintegration of Hockney’s romantic relationship with Schlesinger.
